A Legacy of Light: Remembering Jeff Otto's Impact on Our Community
At the start of the Bike Rally this year we experienced the significant loss of our beloved friend and Bike Rally participant Jeff Otto. The Friends for Life Bike Rally was a real passion of his, having participated for over 10 years. Through his efforts, he was able to raise close to $100k in his time. Alongside his partner of 4 years, Dean Miller, the work to support the Bike Rally was an integral part of their lives. In whatever capacity he was involved, as a rider, crew, or captain it was always with a focus on the mission, the cause, and a full heart knowing he was making a difference.
Jeff was incredibly focused on raising the funds that support people living with HIV/AIDS. This was important to him and following the loss of Jeff his mission carried on. Because of his example and commitment Jeff raised $31,277. He told our story often, spoke passionately about the cause, and inspired others to be present and involved.
He lived his life authentically and in the service of others. A dedicated Firefighter, community advocate, and a friend to many. His passion for giving back helped create awareness for HIV/AIDS and inspired many. A kind leader and patient man who made you feel welcome and important. He gave a lot to his friends, family, and community and was humble in what he received. His actions have left a legacy that will forever be remembered.
Our community is eternally grateful for his dedication, determination to overcome, and his resolve to live his most authentic life. Jeff will be missed but will always be in our hearts and forever a Friend for Life.
