Why a 3-Day Ride from Kingston?

Many Bike Rally veterans will tell you that they enjoy the ride from Kingston to Montréal the most.

Perhaps it’s the spirit and energy of breakfast in Kingston, when we fête our Top Fundraisers and the recipient of our David Linton Spirit-of-the-Bike-Rally Award.

Maybe it’s the beauty of Gananoque and the Thousand Islands, or the emotional magic and true sense of community at our Candlelight Celebration.

It could be island hopping on the Long Sault Parkway, or the indescribable deliciousness of ice cream at DQ in Lancaster.

There’s also the pure joy of riding along the Lachine Canal, knowing Fierté Montréal awaits us on arrival.

By adding the 3-Day ride from Kingston we’ve opened the door to flexibility for the rider who wants a little bit more. A little bit more than the 1-Day ride, but maybe something a bit more modest than the 6-Day ride. Whatever the reason, we listened to our riders from previous years and added this new opportunity!

3-Day ride participants will still experience the exhilaration of arrival into Montreal, which in 2019 will be during Montreal Pride!

Why is the fundraising minimum the same as the 6-day ride?

We’re matching the 3-Day ride fundraising minimum with that of the 6-Day ride because we know our riders can handle it! This event is PWA’s sustaining fundraiser, its ultimate goal is to raise as much money as possible to ensure our friends living with HIV/AIDS have access to the services they need. This new 3-Day ride is an opportunity to diversify the event, grow participation, and continue to generate critical funds.

How will I get to Kingston?

  • For participants coming from the GTA, a bus will transport you to Kingston the night before the ride, where you’ll stay at Queen’s University overnight.
  • Transportation from other regions (ie. Ottawa or Montreal) may be arranged closer to the event, depending on demand.
  • Participants from the Kingston area can meet us at Queens on the morning of departure.
