Want a fun way to connect with fellow riders? Start your training early and build your aerobic fitness to ensure you hit the pavement this spring ready to ride! Registered Bike Rally Participants, join us for free spin classes at the Central YMCA.
Every Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30pm, and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, from now until April 28, 2019.
There are just 22 bikes available so please Register for each class at least 2 hours in advance. (The Y requires this attendance list.)
If you have registered a bike but no longer plan to attend, please Cancel Order via My Tickets so your bike can be freed up for others. Click on the My Tickets link at the top right of the confirmation or reminder email to login to your account on the Eventbrite website. Cancellation is not available on the Eventbrite mobile app.
A few notes:
- arrive 15-20 minutes ahead of the class and proceed down the stairs on the left after walking in the front doors
check in with the Bike Rally coordinator and sign the log book on your way to the locker rooms; you may be asked to present photo ID
bring your own lock and towel or rent one from the Y at $2.00 each – bags, coats and boots are not permitted in the fitness spaces
once changed, take the long staircase to the second landing, pass through the weight room door and find the spin studio on the left
spin bikes have two-sided pedals: toe cages on one side permit the use of any kind of athletic shoe or sneaker; SPD clips on the other side fit compatible cycling shoes, to give you the most efficient, powerful and safest ride
The Bike Rally Expo is a one day event to check off some of those required seminars: the First Year Orientation and the Flat Fix Seminar. There will also be a speaker from HEAL Nutrition to talk about how you should manage your diet as you increase your training, as well as what to eat and drink on the bike.
The First Year Orientation and Flat Fix Seminars will be run twice each, at 10:45 and 12:30, and the Nutrition Seminar at 2pm. This will also be an opportunity for riders to try on the jerseys to make sure you get the sizing right. This all goes down at PWA at 200 Gerrard Street East on Saturday, March 23.
